10/25/99 WJTB broadcasts live over the Internet!  Go listen!

www.wjtb.org is undergoing renovations.  Please be patient.

10/9/99 In a classic NJIT move, only half of our budget was approved.  This means we will have to seriously cut back on necessary equipment purchases.  We may have enough to buy the FM equipment though...  Thanks NJIT.
10/6/99 False alarm.  The Cabinet Meeting with the Senate had nothing to do with our money.  In fact, Senate didn't even know we were represented :(   Michelle, from Senate, contact us please! wjtb@wjtb.org
10/2/99 Bob Moran confirmed that NJIT has approved its budgets for the (new) year.  We still do not know if WJTB will get all the money we asked for, but you can be sure that every dime we get will go towards FM equipment.  We have a Cabinet Meeting with the Student Senate (they control our money) Monday, 11:30AM.  We should know the deal after that.   Stay tuned!
10/2/99 Apparently our previous news got deleted, so here is a quick run down.  Please read this through before you stop us on campus and fire away questions:

For the first time ever, we are trying to put WJTB on your FM radio dial.

This is not something that we can do overnight.  No, it is not as easy as it sounds.

WJTB has never done this before.  We have never done this before.  We don't have a set date on when it will be ready.  Plans are for the end of October.

We will be doing RealAudio (maybe Video) streaming regardless.  MP3 streaming is planned as well.  We will announce when this feature is ready.

No, we don't know what the frequency will be.

No, we cannot give you a tour of the station right now.  We're busy enough.  Sorry.

Yes you can be a DJ if you do the following: apply to be a member, go through the training, submit a demo tape, and follow the rules.  You are not guaranteed a time slot.  You are required to do announcements over the air including things like news, weather, sports, etc (so yes, you will be required to talk during your time slot).

Our expected FM coverage is roughly a 1 mile radius from the center of campus.  FCC laws prohibit us from going further.

You will be required to follow our guidelines at all times.  This includes proper use of the station equipment and broadcast rules.  Failure to do so will result in immediate ejection from WJTB.  No, this is not a joke.

WJTB will be a freeform station, meaning you can DJ any kind of music you like (including doing just talk shows).  All songs are to be "radio ready" meaning no cursing, etc.  Questionable material must be approved by an Exec.

No, you can't stop by and play with the equipment.  Nor can you practice on the equipment after hours.  If you are not a WJTB member, you will not get into the studio. At all.  Live with it.

I hope that cleared up some of the questions you might have about WJTB.  We plan on posting our full Operations Policy online as soon as it is completed.  This includes all the rules associated with operating a public broadcast station.

Check back for future News updates.  Thank you for your interest in WJTB!

10/1/99 RealAudio streaming tests have been successful.  Live feed will most likely be a 32k stereo stream.  56k MP3 stream (ShoutCast) tests are scheduled for next week.
